The
Copy Centers Complete Network Server and Backbone Upgrade
SYRACUSE,
NY, April 2, 2004 - - The Copy Centers has completed
its network upgrade today with the latest computer hardware
and software technologies. One of the main components
of the network upgraded is the network server. The Copy
Centers invested into acquiring the latest in server
technologies. The new network server is equipped with
over 1TB (one terabyte or 1,000 gigabytes) of storage
capacity, the latest in computing power, the latest
Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 network operating
system, along with security solution from Symantec®.
The
Copy Centers has also upgraded portion of the older
network cabling to newer and higher performing CAT5E
and CAT6 to improve network data transfers. This upgrade
of the network 'artery' is complimented by a new high-performing
3COM® network switch. The combination of these two
upgrades will increase file transfers among the computers
on the network, meaning customers jobs can be completed
sooner.
The
increase demand for document imaging and document management
services has made this network upgrade an essential
process in order to ensure that The Copy Centers has
the technology in placed to accommodate this growing
business.
Many
customers use The Copy Centers Document Imaging Service
to convert paper documents into electronic format. This
minimizes costly storage space for file cabinets, provides
for easier file distribution, production, and backup.
The
other growing service area for The Copy Centers is in
Document Management. Customers store commonly printed
digital files on the network with The Copy Centers.
When a customer needs to have a particular file printed,
the customer calls the account representative with the
quantity and The Copy Centers retrieves the file from
its server for printing on their digital presses. This
increases order turnaround time and allow customers
to print only the quantity they need at the time.
The
Copy Centers also enhanced the power and data protection
system of its network to protect against power disturbances
and data loss. By implementing a data backup scheme
along with the use of APC® power redundancy system,
The Copy Centers can continue to operate in the event
of a power failure or a failure in one of its data storage
systems.
This
is a major upgrade and enhancement to the network infrastructure
and backbone of The Copy Centers. It is a testament
to the dedication The Copy Centers have in maintaining
its position as the technological leader in its business
in Central New York. This upgrade will increase productivity,
allow headroom for continued growth, enhance workflow
efficiency and enhance reliability. The Copy Centers
is excited with this major network upgrade and expects
the technology to provide full-time operational service
for the next several years.
