U
Uncoated
Papers
Paper without a coating to provide a smoother printing surface.
Printing on uncoated paper results in the ink spreading (dot
gain) more than on the smoother surfaces afforded by coated
papers. Images printed on uncoated paper appear duller than
on coated papers.
UV
Varnish
UV varnish produces a high gloss or matte coating to enhance
the finish of a job and protect it from marking. UV varnish
is not applied on a conventional printing press and requires
a separate process.
